This morning I stood on my laptop. Yep how dumb can you get. Now my screen looks like a bullet hole in a windscreen with spiders webs shafting out.
I don't know about you but I get very attatched to my laptop. Using another one is like sleeping with someone elses wife. The same things are pretty much there but somehow different.
Johnny Computer is my link to the outside world. It's how I make my living. It's my best buddy through those long solitary hours searching for the perfect scene.
I know prices have come down dramatically and you can get a super duper dual core processor for less than 300 quid, and if I raided my piggy bank I could probably get one. But I'm not sure I want to. While Johnny is still breathing I think I'll stick with him. The bullet hole is near the top right corner and the spider webs aren't too bad if you squint. No, I think I'll wait til he's terminal, then [whispers] I might get a shiny new mac! I hear they're very good.

Good plan. You can always plug in a separate screen if that doesn't feel too much like having a bit on the side. I did the mac thing last time round. Final Draft/Movie Magic are both cross platform. I love it.
Well, you certainly won't regret getting a Mac, if you choose to. I can't imagine using anything else (apart from maybe a very big quill for signing important declarations).

I got seduced by a Mac Mini a few years ago. Everyone said I was going to love it.
I loathed it.
I actually began to hate writing because of it. I gave it nine months, then traded it in on a refurbed Thinkpad, which I've cherished ever since.
I know some people love using Macs, but I can't understand this determined 'you will love it' some of them come out with, as if everyone's the same and must think as they do.
Well, for me, it's just passing on the happiness I feel when I use my Mac after spending my working day using a PC, and because I find using the former a vastly more enjoyable and intuitive experience than using the latter. However, I agree that the whole 'Mac vs PC' debate is a bit of a tired playground argument. I certainly don't think everyone must think as I do - that would be awful and rather disturbing. Maybe you will regret getting a Mac, if that's what you decide to do, Dave. Contrary to my previous glib assertion, I don't know - and I love the uncertainty!
