Reading Services

I have a few weeks between projects and want to keep busy but quite frankly don't feel like writing a spec. It occurs to me that there aren't that many avenues a pre pro writer can go down to get solid professional evaluation, hints and tips on their work.

With nine years as a pro writer preceded by three years as a pro reader for the likes of Pathe, Momentum etc I think I'm in a position to give a pretty good opinion on both the technical and commercial aspects of a script and would like to assist those struggling for a toe hold. I remember what it was like.

I can't do it for free but don't want to make anything more than pocket money so I figure that £60 a script is not unreasonable for the time involved.

If anyone feels this might be useful then post an email addy and I'll get back to you. I have about 3 weeks and will work on a first come first served basis.

What have you written?

jeannie - no, I started off writing and reading movie scripts. They are still and always will be my first love.

Mark. Good question. If I think someone is genuinely interested they'll get my IMDB entry in my reply.

I kmow ED and his IMBD entry is pretty fucking impressive. But he's also a really genuine and vastly knowledgable guy.

If he has a three week window and can be arsed reading scripts and giving feedback then I'd go for it!

Fuck off you shill! Though in hindsight I do feel a bit sullied asking for money.

But I feel that there are some writers who need a nudge in the right direction. They have talent and enthusiasm but need that little someething - the ten percent extra that makes a good script memorable and starts a career. Maybe my experience can be helpful.

Ah, thanks for the answer.

I guess I'll have to pass - although I probably won't find a sold screenwriter for that price.

Good luck!
